What is the difference between the LocalHarvest directory and the online store?

Our homepage search engine is a directory of farms, farmers markets and businesses located throughout the United States. Visitors to LocalHarvest use our search engine to find locally-grown foods or products, and they will contact you directly to find out about availability, pricing and pickup.

As a LocalHarvest directory member, you have the option to create a storefront to sell your goods through our online store / catalog, located at the Shop tab on our homepage.

Products sold through LocalHarvest are shipped from the farm to the customer, or are available for local pick up or delivery. Billing to the customer is processed through LocalHarvest, while you (the vendor) handles order confirmation and delivery to the customer. LocalHarvest charges a commission for products sold through the online store.

We feature catalog products on our homepage, pages throughout the site, and in our Keep Me Posted and promotional emails to subscribers.
